We have a core group of members that have been together since the early days of the LOA server. The initial pledge we joined and bred life in to was call RoTX (Republic of Texas). Sam Houston (Azteca) was the prince of this new pledge and recruited friends from Dep server. He also made new friends from Ken and test servers who then joined the ranks of RoTX.
I will attempt to list some of the early players in the pledge and if any one is missed I apologize, send me a PM and I’ll add you to the list. Sam, Robinhood, Brim, LinAce, Flex, SansMercy, CaptainDeath, KillerElf, Maja, SnakeEyes, Tigertail, winterstorm, BigA and others.
After some time the pledge was reaching capacity so Majal was born and started the second wing of the pledge. We didn’t call it a sub pledge because both units were full of sound players and made one family.
We created a third sub pledge led by KillerElf and his prince, ROTXPRINCE. We had done so well with the two main pledges that we needed a place to hold newer players, a true sub-pledge. This wing recruited and trained players, weeded out the ones that weren’t a good fit and when they hit level 40 they transferred to one of the main pledges.
This pledge took on even more responsibility when Sam (Azteca) left the game and the veterans went to Majal’s wing while newer players from both main wings went to Killer’s wing until the alliance update was put in to the game.
Once the alliance quest was complete Killers prince joined with at least 30 members and he was deleted, may he rest in peace. Killer brought with him some friends from the test server, Dakine, Mischief (WickedSin/Supultura), Sparkle (Miri of Ooo), Chryos and Failure, his own real life brother.
Poetry was formed by Traveller and started another wing of the pledge which after time through the alliance system joined up with Majals crew.
One night when bored a few of members went with Sam and took Orc Fort, our first castle. This enable the elves to complete their quest in peace. After a month RoTX walked away from this castle to move on to bigger and better ones.
RoTX was in an alliance that held Giran, Kent and IGG castles. We had a turn or two in these fine palaces. After leaving the alliance RoTX held Kent for an extended period of time. This was done in part with the help of our friends in DOM and BOL.
RoTX built a reputation during siege times as reliable and disciplined. This discipline was shown on a number of occasions when the only thing between holding or losing a castle was a formation of RoTX pledge members. This reputation and discipline was built over time, time training on teamwork, pledge structure, training ourselves in not just the ability to lead but the ability to follow.
RoTX disbanded as members had less and less time to play combined with a siege burn out by many members. The council created Unforgiven blood pledge so members could stay together and hunt. Unforgiven did not receive a lot of attention in regards to recruiting and building because the members were very happy with the group of players they had and didn’t want to ruin that family feeling they had at the time. Once again the drop out bug hit some players and Unforgiven could not sustain itself.
November 2003 the old council that was still playing Lineage met with returning council members, they got together and decided to start a pledge that had their belief system, their code of conduct and pledge rules that had built the successful foundation for RoTX. Getting back that close knit family feeling was the only concern, finding a group of players who enjoy chatting, hunting and sieging together would be the challenge. RoTX enjoyed a closeness not found in many pledges; the type of closeness that ensured you had a warrior beside you in a time of need. The type of closeness that didn’t require Pking idiots on the server unless hit first, a show of pledge members would change a fools mind and a chat with a prince that his pledge was stealing drops from a member of our pledge…RoTX…was enough to get an apology.
The history was something I wanted to put together so new members could see where our pride came from in the flag we fly as our pledge symbol, we are not all from Texas (thank god), we know what the flag represented in the past at a siege. We knew the flag brought us comfort deep in our soul that this was a place with out the troubles of the real world, a place were we had friends we could depend on. There is no greater feeling than to take or hold a castle in the face of superior numbers, nothing like calling for help in pledge chat and being surrounded by friends ready to end some one or die themselves in the process. Yet cool enough to not run in arrows or swords blazing, assess the situation, let the leadership take charge, then do what was required whether it be walking away or fighting.
